Fort Bragg Life

Hello everyone! We moved here from Ft. Leonard Wood in April. My husband is currently TDY and has been since we moved, basically. He won't be back until late September at the best and I have begun to feel like I am floating out in the middle of nowhere not having even a unit to go to as a starting point for making new friends. I live off post and have met a few of my neighbors but it isn't Wisteria lane and I don't think we're going to be best friends. Some of my friends from our last duty stations have mentioned knowing other people stationed out here but as the ladies I know are all in the middle of moving themselves I haven't been able to connect with the friends-of -friends.

I am 25. I have two small dogs and no children. Our fence was just completed so pup play dates over here would be a lot of fun! I like movies, coffee, reading, music... I guess the basics. I'd love to get to know you!

Hey there! We also live off post with no children. We have a bigger dog but she's a sweetie and loves other dogs. We live closest to the Honeycutt gate.

Hi! I live off post, too... But 2 kids and no dogs. My 4 year old LOVES them, but we can't afford the $300 pet deposit fee atm.

Hi Katie...I have been here over a yr now. My boyfriend is deployed right now. We live off post, have two dogs, and no children at the moment. The only friends I have managed to make are the girls that I work with. Would love to make new friends as well!!!

Wow! I feel absolutely reinvigorated by your responses! Thank you! So, I guess there is the lunch at Red Robin next week, I am excited about that! Also though, I know some exciting ladies might not be able to make that because of family or work obligations. Would you like to set up something for one evening next week as well? Or is that too much?

Like I said, I am a big coffee fan and I really like the Fig Cafe over by the Carmike 12 theater up on McPherson Ch Rd. So, I'll nominate that for a potential evening meeting location.

Also, I was absolutely serious about the doggie dates as well. I live out in Raeford (really we are just on the border of Fayetteville across the county line) out of the Chicken gate down by Wayside. That might not be realistic or convenient for everyone but I know there is a dog park on post off of Bastogne and another bigger, nicer one on the other side of Fayetteville. Dawn, what kind of dogs do you have, just out of curiosity?

I can't make any lunch plans because of work, so evening or weekend works best for me. I have been wanting to meet some of the ladies but because of work, I can't. :(

I've never been to the Fig Cafe... don't like coffee much but I'm sure they have other drinks, so I'd be up for that.

And I'd be up for trying the doggie date :) Our dog needs to socialize more... she's nervous around people she doesn't know. She's an Airedale by the way.

They have tea, smoothies, probably bottled sodas, and upstairs they have wine and beer. It's a fun little place! They have a pretty good menu of food too (soup, salads, sandwiches) and the owner is really hospitable. I am free of obligations right now, so any time is good for me.

Just let me know when and where for the dogs! Mine are 2 rat terriers, they're about 17 lbs each. They love to hog other dogs' toys ;)

First off, why would that be doing our nation a service? And secondly, it would not be her place. Mr. Boyd, you seem to have quite a strong opinion about the homosexual community. Where does this hate come from? What has a gay male or female ever do…
